What on Earth is GFA?

GFA stands for "Glamfur Archive"! This site is dedicated to archiving art from an almost forgotten period of the internet. Glamfur was a stylistic movement within the furry fandom that inspired a lot of modern furry substyles within the community. Such substyles include; Sparkledogs, Gloomdogs, Scenedogs, Ravefur, and a lot of the darker (+ brighter) artstyles adopted by the furry community.

Glamfur is a very bold and noticable style, a lot of the art has very distinct features as well as bright and edgier color schemes. There have been several talented and notable artists that have adopted this style, but as time has progressed, the number of people using it has dwindled. Sites like DeviantArt, FurAffinity, e621, LiveJournal, and others were a haven for this art movement to flourish. As of recently, there has been a slight spark in revival in communities such as Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram.

The GFA started when the moderator, Mika, had stumbled upon a random DeviantArt comment suggesting his style reminded them of Glamfur art. Curiosity led him down a rabbit hole, and now he runs a huge archive of Glamfur art.

How Does This Work? Who's Behind This?

The archive is currently run by only one person, Mika.

He spends hours collecting photos, scraping old websites, asking around for potential credits, and running things through reverse image searchers. He tries his best to properly archive all of these works the best he can, and asks for your patience. However, there is a slight chance that he may either mistype or enter faulty information, so it is suggested to contect him through glamfurarchive@proton.me for potential error correction. You may also use the email to submit your own artwork, or others you have found (with proper dates and credits) if you wish. Helpers are always appreciated.

This archive is inspired from many different places, all of them accessable within the "Links" section.
